According to Article 1 of its Statute, "the Archaeological Society at Athens aims to:
a) Uncover, collect, maintain, preserve, restore, repair and investigate ancient monuments in Greece and beyond, including Christian, Byzantine and other monuments belonging to the period up to the Greek Revolution.
b) Study the life of ancient people and explore Byzantine and Medieval archeology and art.
Overall stimulate the interest in fine arts and the dissemination of knowledge regarding the history of ancient and modern art.
